Quick sculpting update and some tv ramble (Face-Off, Helix)

Just a quick update post! I haven't been feeling very well this evening, which isn't really helpful for posting. n_n'

But I repaired Pony!Loki! I carved off the edges from the head and ear (which fixed the problems from it baking bent), and then I sculpted the ear back onto the head. I was going to just sculpt on a whole new ear if that didn't work, but since I liked the way the first ear had turned out I was at least going to try to repair the original ear. Since I knew I was going to do a short bake on the sculpt anyway, I also did some more sculpting around the hooves and legs.
I baked him, and everything seems to have turned out alright! Now tomorrow I'll be able to start on the next stage. :3


I watched the most recent episode of Face-Off tonight! I was super excited about the dragon make-ups they were doing. I really loved the frozen dragon! So happy that won. I was also amused that the seahorse dragon girl was so positive that she was going home, which I understand because she had a lot of issues, but she didn't even end up on the bottom. That says a lot for the sculpt that she was able to get out there. I totally agreed with what they said about the dragon that was sent home- I mean he had a lot of work there but the first thing I said when I saw it was that it didn't read as a dragon to me. It looked like cross between a yappy dog and a fish wearing armor.
I don't remember anyone's names yet, but I liked that the guy that picked the Frozen theme was excited about recognizing the location for Stark's house. xD

Also continued watching Helix, is anyone else watching that show on here? I like the concepts, and I really want to like the show, but I have issues with the choices that they make on the show. Since they're supposed to be a group of exceptionally smart people you'd think that they'd make less stupid decisions. xP
On the premeire I'd tweeted about the show and one of the actresses had favorited them, which was really neat to me. ehehehe n_n'
Scottie said the most recent episode made him think that the show was originally intended to be set in space, and that makes a lot of sense!

I kind of liked the tar dragon best, that the guy with the weirdly bleached hair made, but I do see why the ice one won.

I was expecting the little dude to be sent home, but that other guy's 'dragon' was really off. It did look like a dog!

Scottie thought the tar dragon was going to win, even though he also liked the ice dragon. The judges had a lot of positive feedback about the tar (and the ice dragon too of course), but because the tar dragon guy had such a volume of work there.
I thought his paint was really good, and the head sculpt was good and the body fabrication was a lot of work, but there was just something off with the body proportions that bothered me so I wouldn't have picked it to win personally.

I was expecting the little dude to go home too, his sculpt was so rough! But I shouldn't be surprised, they've sent people home for just the reason they sent dogfish dragon home before- the artist completely missed the point of the challenge (which is definitely important).

LOL, "dogfish dragon", this is spot-on! I do agree with their decision, it just wasn't what I had expected.

Eventually I'll learn everyone's name, and then these conversations will make much more sense. :) I'm so glad that you watch this too though!

I've taped the first three episodes of Helix but haven't watch it yet. Are you enjoying it?

I'm enjoying it, but it does have some issues. Scottie is really frustrated by some of the character's decision making (because we think that they should have made different decisions based on their experience), and I am too but I'm invested enough that I'm willing to overlook it to continue watching to see what's going on. I'm curious to know what you think of it when you watch it! :3

Helix is the show about the group of CDC people that went to the Arctic base thing cos the guys brother got infected with something, right?
I have been watching that here in Australia.. episode 5 will be this week.
Its - interesting but I spend most of the time yelling at the TV cos they do stupid stuff.

Yup, that's the show!
I know right? I really want to like the show, so I'm willing to go with it, at least so I can see where they're going with it. But I'd rather they wrote it so bad stuff happened in spite of smart decisions, not bad stuff happening because of stupidity advancing plot.

I had to show your comment to Scottie, he's more frustrated and was hoping that he wasn't alone in his feelings about it lol.

lol, Thats fine.
Watching last weeks episode when the infected woman showed up at the young CDC woman's room, I couldn't understand why she still thought her test was 100% accurate when it clearly isn't and the random "army" guy blowing shit up and killing people.
I'll give it one or two more episodes to determine if I will continue watching. I like the idea of some random killer virus/infection so hopefully it gets better.
