Sculpting challenge: Day 62! PHASE ONE COMPLETE!

I finished my siamese cat sculpt today. OMG! That means I have sculpted all of the animals that I set out to do for this part of the challenge! Now I need to decide if I want to paint them all next or if I want to start the human sculpts. It might make more sense to go to paint. I'll see how I feel tomorrow. :3

But for the last bit of sculpting! I attached the prebaked front legs, sculpted the shoulders and shoulder blades, attached the tail, and then textured the whole cat. After that I baked it. Unfortunately the tips of her ears got a little burned, which basically just means they are a bit discoloured. Which doesn't seem too bad since it's a siamese and I'm going to be painting the ear tips dark anyway. hehe What happened was I accidentally didn't reset the temperature alarm after venting some heat out of the stove when it got too hot (because of the way stoves heat up, they don't maintain temp, they go up higher than they need to and shut off until they get to a lower temp, and then start again). So when I looked back after a few minutes I realized the temp had gotten too high. All and all not too bad though! It's still hot so I can't really take full pictures of it until tomorrow, especially since the clay isn't fully set until after it's cooled so I don't want to mess with it.


This is the cat before I textured it. I think I was too excited and forgot to take a picture of it textured before baking. lol



This is the cat as it is now. It's too hot to move so the cotton batting is in the way, but you can see that it's done! I'll post pictures of it without the batting tomorrow when it's cooled and set. :3

In unrelated news, I was listening to The Voice tonight while I was sculpting and two of my favourite people were cut tonight. So disappointed! xP

lol, I understand the zombie eye thing! My first couple of sculpts I had been using white clay for the eyes, and then I decided to go and get some black since it looked too creepy. haha They'll be painted though so they won't be zombie eyes forever. xD

That sounds like something I could totally do! I've even recently done a fox sculpt, I need to post pictures of all my completed past sculpts soon. n_n What is the story? :3

my grandmother was the owl and my grandfather is a fox. my grandma was obsessed with owls, so much that my first word was owl. she passed away feb 2000 when i was 15, the spring after when i was camping, i heard an owl and opened up my tent and it was sitting on our picnic table. I swear it was my grandma saying goodbye. I had been upset because i had a feeling something was wrong when she left to go visit my aunt and i made her promise she would come back, she did just not the way i wanted. Um, now i believe it was my grandma because when I was 6 my grandmother saw this quack dr who told her she had cancer and even started on treatments for it and I remember asking if she died if she would come back as a ghost to say goodbye and she said no because it would scare me. grandma never had cancer. dr lost his license...but i swear this owl had her eyes. and my grandmas favorite color was purple. In honor of my grandma and grandpa I'm getting this tattoo that my friend drew up for me. Ok, I was having some issues getting the image to load before, but now I have been able to look at it! That is totally cute! Your friend is a great artist. :D

The story is really sweet too. I like the idea that your grandma is still watching over you as an owl. :3

I'll have to post up a picture of the fox so you can see one that I've already done! I'll probably do that tomorrow, I have to get to bed otherwise I'd do it now. n_n'
