So as I've mentioned last year I did a Halloween picture for the Monster High comm here on lj, and I tend to go all out on things.
So I was inspired by Harry Potter, the scene in the hall with all the floating pumpkins. I decided that Spectra would decorate the halls with ghostly pumpkins. I also wanted pumpkins for the bottom set. I sculpted pumpkins for this.

I was also sculpting a bluebird at the time, so that's what the other pieces are all about lol.
I needed walls. I painted foam board in black acrylics, then stamped this pattern in gold ink over three panels. I tell you, this took forever. It looks nice though.

I should take a picture of the little paintings on the wall. I found these really cute stamps at Michaels of witches. I decided that I loved them and they should be on the walls. I stamped that onto pieces of watercolour paper and painted them in watercolours. I gave them frames of gold glitter foam.

Also, I don't have progress pictures of it, but the pumpkins were transparent solid pumpkins. Scottie helped me out by drilling out holes so they could be inserted onto the LED lights. We might have lost a few drill bits that day. (He is amazing btw, I can't imagine what I would have ended up doing had I attempted drilling them myself.)
I got Spectra hung in a little harness of fishing line, and I hung Rhuen (Spectra's ghost ferret) and Sir Hoots a Lot (Ghoulia's owl), and strung the pumpkins.

It was down to the wire on time though, so I didn't get as good of a shot as I wanted. I'd been working on this project for 2-3 weeks and of course I wasn't finished until the day the photo was due. xD
Still, I did the best I could. I picked a photo from the millions I took, and then removed all of the strings and things in the gimp, and posted with about 10 minutes or so before the deadline. xD
I'm hoping that my photography skills have improved over the last year. :D

I won 5th place, and as a prize I got my gorgeous Little Dead Riding Wolf! She was a doll that I wanted so bad, and from the prizes it was the doll I wanted most, so it was amazing that she was still available as a prize!

Date: 2013-10-05 11:00 pm (UTC)From:I think I was a bit hindered by my picture because of something a little silly. I commented with the size picture I have here on my journal, with the assumption that you'd be able to go to flickr to see the larger picture if you wanted. Plus, it was down to the wire on time so I wasn't thinking of posting a picture differently than I normally would.
For the actual voting though a copy of the small picture was put into the post with no link out, so my picture was really small in comparison to everyone elses. n_n' I might have lost some edge there because of that! There were some really nice pictures I was up against though. :3
I meant to do a Christmas photoshoot last year but I didn't get to. I did a Valentines shoot but it was just a themed everyday sort of shoot. n_n' Halloween is the big one, and the only one with a competition that I'm aware of (so I really go all out for it!) :3
