Sculpting challenge: flashback! Seal sculpt

I feel bad that I haven't done more sculpting the last couple of days! I did make the body and head armature of my new pony, and I've been trying to figure out legs. I had different metal that I'd been planning on using, but it turned out that I didn't have enough. Scottie did find me more though, so that was awesome! I'd been trying to bend some signs that we bought for armature for something larger that I want to make, it's more difficult though for a smaller thing. I got the front legs mostly figured out (and then Scottie could cut the metal for me), but then I got stuck on the back legs because that needed more actual shaping. I'm not very good at Hulking out, haha, so it wasn't going very well.
I was planning on spraying the Lala pony but the weather hasn't been very good for that. I might have to wait longer than anticipated unless the weather is better tomorrow than the forecast. I'd been planning on sculpting today but when I got home (walked home again), I felt like I was running on fumes. What I ended up doing instead was flailing around on Tumblr looking at Avengers stuff. lol

ANYWAY. I wanted to do something productive, so here's another flashback sculpt! This was the seal I made. :3


I took a picture of the sculpt as I was attaching the head.

I told Scottie that I was uploading my seal pics tonight, and he said it was a good thing that I was doing it this week. I was confused, and then he said "Because next week it isn't safe to be a seal..." I don't know if you guys have been seeing the Shark Week promo commercials, but it's from that. I about died! I'm slightly delirious, but it was just funny. Plus I keep seeing Shark Week posts on tumblr (that have nothing to do with actual sharks or shark week, just funny posts), so it was just even sillier.

hehe, the fandom seems like it's doing well! Plus, there are still character movies coming out plus the sequel! I've been excited for the Avengers since I saw the first Iron Man in theaters, lol. xD

Oh shoot, Scottie just pointed something out to me and I feel like a total derp. These early animal sculpts were from where I was teaching myself to sculpt following tutorials out of a book by Katherine Dewey. So while I did put my own spin on the sculpts, I didn't make the designs. I'll have to put that info in my next flashback post (I'd mentioned the book early on, but I forgot to add them to the flashbacks). The ponies are mine from concept to finished sculpt, and I've sculpted things from concept to finished sculpt before starting that challenge, but I wanted to challenge myself to improve). *is embarassed*
