Ferret update
Apr. 15th, 2012 12:18 amI've fallen in love with ferrets. xD Honestly they are more awesome than I imagined they would be! And I thought they'd be pretty awesome. xD
Chaos is eating now, he started eating the night that I'd posted about worrying about his not eating. (It had worried me though, he hadn't been interested in food or treats. He hadn't even been interested in ferretone!) He's also getting more playful and active! I think he just hadn't been getting enough to eat or drink (due to the faulty water bottle). He doesn't look too bad in the pictures, but he feels like skin and bones. You can feel his little ribs and hip bones. But he's eating, and eating quite a bit, so I'm very happy! He'll be plumped up in no time. We've been putting ferretone in their food, and he likes it as a treat too. Today I used it on both him and Gwin so I could clip their nails. I hadn't done it sooner because we couldn't find our clippers and we wanted them to have as little stress as possible, but both of their nails were so long! I'm wondering when the last time they were clipped was, it must have been ages ago. o_O
It's a lot of fun learning their personalities! Gwin is way more active, she loves to play! We got cat teaser toys and she loves to run after those. There's a shelf in the room we let them run around in that is her item hiding spot. I'll let her chase the ball around, and when she catches it she brings it under the shelf (and she always looks so proud of her catch, lol). Once she's satisfied with her placement and starts wandering off, I pull it back out and then we repeat the process. It's like fetch in reverse. lol She will cuddle a bit, but then she'll squirm off to go play. hehe
Chaos is much more snuggley. He can also be quite playful, but he's much more likely to hang out with you longer. He's also more likely to do the weasel war dance, which is so funny. XD
Tonight we had a lot of fun playing with them. Tonight during our evening play time there was lots of dook noises! xD I can't put into words exactly how adorable they are.
One less happy thing is that we think Chaos might be deaf. We thought that it was a possibility at first because has the coloring for it. We don't seem to get responses for sound and he's not all that interested in jingley toys. If we try to get his attention with sound, like for example clapping, Gwin will notice and look up while Chaos won't react at all. Scottie had a deaf cat when he was growing up so he's used to having a deaf pet.
This afternoon we picked up a shelf to put into their cage to add a level. It seems to have worked out quite well! We also got a flat cat bed to put on it but so far we're not sure how to keep it up there, so for now they just like to play with it outside of the cage.
