Ferrets are home!
Apr. 12th, 2012 12:14 amSo we didn't get the ferrets until a little after 8 pm. The lady that was allergic to them apparently couldn't bring them back until then. I hadn't asked what all the ferrets came with beforehand, the listing had just said it came with their cage, food, and all of their things.
All of their things was less things than I thought! They had a large cage, which will be fine though it's not fancy at all. We'll add things to it, we already got them a hammock. The cage had pine bedding, and they came with no more bedding than that. Pine bedding is bad so we wouldn't have wanted it anyway, but still. There was no more bedding. There was a little bit of food in a small bag that he said that he bought because he couldn't afford to buy them more than that. But... the ferrets were only supposed to have been gone a day. Shouldn't there have been more food left? I wonder this because the multi-coloured ferret seems really skinny. There were two water bottles, a small food bowl, two jingley bells... and that was it. No other toys, no levels in the cage, a small amount of bad bedding, a tiny amount of food, and two balls for toys. :/
Apparently I can't smell ammonia or I'm more stuffed up than I thought. Scottie could barely stay in their apartment because the ammonia smell was so strong. It was making him sick. I was like "This apartment smells kind of musty. OH LOOK FERRETS!" and thought no more of the smell. Which is weird. Can some people not smell ammonia? It's strange to me that it was so bad it was making Scottie sick and I hardly noticed. o_O
They were in this tiny apartment packed with stuff. There were two guys in there, a baby, 2 cats, a dog, and the 2 ferrets. When we got there they had the ferrets in a bucket, which they then moved to a box. Apparently this is the box that the woman took them back in. I held the box, playing whack a ferret, trying to keep them from wandering out of the box that they'd chewed holes in while the guy put the cage back together.
We took the little guys home and then rushed off to the pet store before they closed. We got them new toys, more food, appropriate bedding, a litter box and litter, harnesses, collars, treats, a hammock, ferretone(?), and other things.
We had a lot of fun playing with them! THEY ARE SO CUTE OMG. They are so laid back! It's amazing that they barely know us and are happy to just come play with us. Since it had gotten so late I didn't take pictures yet, but I'll do that tomorrow.
We've named them Chaos (the ferret from the Greywalker novels that we're reading), and Gwin (the ferret-like animal in the Inkheart trilogy). :D Gwin is the white one and is supposed to be mine. Chaos is the multi-colored one and is supposed to be Scottie's. Of course, that probably means that the ferrets will favor the opposite person, but it doesn't really matter. hehe
