milleniumgypsy: (Nanoha and fert)
Tonight I put together the arm armatures for the male figure, and started sculpting the fingers onto the hands. It actually took me a while to get the arms together and with proper finger lengths, partly because my hands were getting tired because the wire I'm using is a bit stiff.

Tomorrow I'll need to finish sculpting the fingers, then I'll bake them. I hope that goes alright! After I bake the fingers I'll sculpt the rest of the hand and start sculpting the arms.

In other news, did anyone else see the story of the people in Argentina buying toy poodles... which are actually ferrets? On steriods with a floofy hairdo? o_O I feel bad for the ferrets, I mean, that can't be good for them. And once the owners realize they're not dogs what do they do with them? o_O Exactly how can you look at a ferret and think "YEAH THAT'S TOTALLY A DOG"? o_O And why exactly do the pet sellers just not just sell poodles? There is so much randomness in this story I wouldn't be surprised if it was an April fools joke or something.

I felt I needed to post some pictures of my ferts. Who look in no way like poodles. My gramma's dog when I was growing up was a very sweet toy poodle named Brandy, and she definitely did not look like a ferret. lol

Chaos and Gwin

In tv related ramblings, I watched the Voice tonight! I'm excited to see more of the people who've been picked. There was a girl that I really liked and I remembered today that she's on team Blake. I wish she was on another team though because I was hoping someone else would win this year! I don't have anything against Blake, he's just won the last couple of years in a row and I thought it would be cool if someone else won this year. xD I guess we'll see how stuff goes. :3

Tiiiired, time for bed.

I read the article on the ferret-poodles and couldn't believe it. If you can't tell a poodle from a ferret, maybe you shouldn't even buy a pet.

Yeah, I really don't understand how you could mix the two up! It's like if I took a horse and slapped fake horns on it so that I could sell you a cow. These things only look vaguely related how in the world....

Though my husband was seriously asked by people who were visiting the park he was working in when the elk turned into moose (and I said when talking to him about this it's someone thinking chipmunks turn into squirrels), so there are some really, really clueless people out there. I'd think that with something as common as a dog though would trip people up less.

Snuggling ferrets!!

I wonder how those people in the articles have made it this far without giving all their money for magic beans. Those poor ferrets looked nothing like poodles. Their poor little systems must be completely messed up too.

I was excited to get them snuggling in the tower, it looked so cute hehe. :3

I know right? I read the story and was like "Ya'know, I have a bridge I can sell those people..." I was just so flabbergasted that someone could look at a ferret and actually think it was a dog. o_O I feel bad for the ferrets too, ferrets have enough health problems as it is without being put on steriods (though I know non-US ferrets tend to be healthier, so hopefully they're a bit better off).

Seriously, at best they look like exotic, rare wild rodents. Aren't steroids supposed to increase aggression? I imagine that would make for nippy, unfriendly ferrets. And the poor creatures are probably confused about what's happened to them. I hope the seller is up on animal cruelty charges.

Steriods are supposed to increase aggression, so on top of not being dogs, those ferrets are going to be a lot less friendly than your regular ferret! I hope they get caught and are brought up on animal cruelty charges too.

awww cute ferret babies. must go read article. I still plan on buying those earrings but things are a bit messy financially right now :/ will you hold onto them for me? I really love them...

They are cuties!

I should have linked to an article, we just read it while we weren't home. n_n'

That's alright, we totally understand! We still have them on reserve for you, don't worry, they're for you. :)

ok! thanks sooo much!!

I haven't heard that about. Those poor ferrets! And how does one mistake a ferret for a dog?! If the story is true omg! I have heard about people buying what they thought were miniture pigs that grew up to be massive pigs.

Date: 2013-04-14 07:20 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] invsagoth.livejournal.com
I know right?! I can't imagine thinking that a ferret is a dog. It makes no sense!

I can at least understand how someone could buy a baby pig and think that it was a mini pig, at least it's the same animal! And when we make toy breeds they do tend to keep some baby characteristics for looks, so it's still gulliable to fall for it but that makes way more sense than a ferret being thought of as a dog. o_O

Date: 2013-04-14 07:55 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] icecoldrain.livejournal.com
I could see the pigs because it's easy for someone to mistake a miniture pig for a big one when they're babies, but a ferret for a dog?!

lol, this reminds me of my neighbor. They had gotton some "teacup" chihuahuas and were asking us if we wanted one while the breeders still had them. We have a cat and if we were going to get a dog we would get a pomeranian. Anyway, we went by their house to see their "teacup" chihuahuas and THOSE WERE NOT TEACUP CHIHAUHAUS LOL. They were puppies that were already twice the size of a teacup chihuahua.

omg the ferret thing is so insane. one, how on earth did someone come up with the idea to pass a ferret off as a dog and two, how on earth did they ever find someone who actually believed them!?!? o_O poor little puffed-up ferrets!

yours are very cute all snuggled up together though!

Date: 2013-04-14 07:23 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] invsagoth.livejournal.com
I know! I realize that ferrets are cheaper than purebred dogs, but it seems like less work to get some mutts to pass off as purebreds or something. I'd think that would be a lot easier to get away with too!

Thank you! I was happy to get that picture and that it turned out, since they were snuggled up for just a little bit before one of them started rolling around and playing.

I saw that news story and it's a world of WTF - did the person who bought those have no idea what a dog looked like? They didn't look like normal ferrets of course but they didn't look anything like dogs either. It reminded me of that Adventures in Babysitting scene where Brenda picks up the rat thinking it's a kitty lol.

I know! I would think someone could be conned into thinking that they were some sort of exotic rodent, but I can't imagine that would make them worth any more than they are as a pet weasel.

I can't imagine thinking that a ferret is a dog either! They have totally different anatomy. o_O

It reminded me of something that happened to my husband when he worked in a national park, people asked him seriously when the elk turned into moose. In a different park, people asked what kind of flowers the snow/glacier on the mountain were. I don't know where some people get their information. o_O
