milleniumgypsy: (FMA-everything is under control)
So last night we had a once in a lifetime wind storm. Power went out at 10pm last night and it's still out this evening. Half of Anchorage was without powerthis morning. They're working on it but there's a lot of damage. Full trees were basicically ripped out by their roots because of the summer leaves not letting go like they would've done in the fall so they acted like sails. Also we had rain recently so the soil was loose. I saw a picture of a big flagpole snapped in half. Near us a huge pine was downed in the street and two power lines are just laying on the ground. All state offices were closed today so I didn't go in to work. Posting this from the library. Hope the power comes back soon. I'm worried about the food in the fridge/freezer. :/ Also though we have no power the fire operation system monitor in the hall is emitting a high pitched squeal that we can't turn off letting us know that it's not operating correctly... because the power is out. I know the power is out stop squealing asdfgOMG!

Ugh, nature is being a bloody menace this year. I hope your power is back on soon. If the fire system monitor noise is anything like the trill of those computer back up things I think you'd be justified in shooting it.

I had to use my ipod for a while to drown out the noise because I told my husband that I was going to go out with a hammer otherwise. It was sooo obnoxious! The power finally came back on at 6 pm today, so yay no more noise! lol
