Sculpting challenge: Day 81!
Dec. 11th, 2012 12:22 amSo things are moving ahead slowly but surely! I wanted to get so much sculpting done this weekend but unfortunetly I didn't feel well so I didn't get as far as I wanted. On Sunday I rolled eyes like I'd done with the animals since I didn't have the beads to make the eye molds I needed. I rolled them in white clay and put them on wires so they could be on the painting stand I made.
( Eye molds, eyes, and stand )
Here is my eye mold, the stand, and all the eyes on stalks. I noticed that I accidently grabbed my translucent clay instead of white though! Eep! They look rather neat actually, but that's not what I'd been going for. I have painted them white and they are currently drying on the rack. I need to actually paint the eyes of course. Not sure how this is going to look in the end since I normally paint them after the sculpt is totally done.
Then since I was waiting on the eyes to dry, I decided it would make the most sense to just start on the body armatures. Since I don't usually do groups it took me longer than I expected! I keep saying that foil armatures are like foil origami.
( Armature stages )
Here's a picture of the armatures in stages. They use a lot of foil!
And here are all of the armatures together, and the eyes with a thin coat of paint drying on them. They still need some more shaping but they are mostly finished!
( Progress for the night )
Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to continue my sculpts! I'm probably going to finish the eyes and start the body sculpts. I don't think they eyes will be done in time to do more face sculpting tomorrow.
