Sculpting challenge: Day twenty two
Jan. 9th, 2012 11:41 pmSo tonight I worked on the basset hound some more. It really does help get my mind off of things, which is good.
I finally finished the main detail work on the face and attached the head. It was kind of funny looking actually when I first attached the head because a lot of the bulk of the neck still needed to be added. At first I was worried that I made the neck too long but I think it was fine once I added the rest of the clay. It still needs some extra clay for skin folds and such, but the majority of it is done.
When I showed it to Scottie he laughed and said it looked like a raft. I had it propped up between balls of clay, and it did look like some sort of silly raft. hehe
I also sculpted the front legs/paws. I still need to do the back legs, but I'll do that tomorrow. I also made and pre-baked all the claws. I accidentally made them a bit long though, so when I tried to attach them to the toes it looked like some crazy beast. I'm going to have to snip them all shorter I think because I can't really get them to go further into the toe without pushing the foot out of shape. I don't know why I'm having so much trouble with these feet warming up as soon as I touch them. lol :P
So tomorrow I'll try to get the back legs made, the nails in, the skin folds added, and furring. I might not have enough time for all of that of that though depending on work and other things. I always underestimate how long furring takes. lol :P
I need to add some more animal icons to my journal so that I can give these posts more varied and appropriate icons. hehe
