milleniumgypsy: (dandelion lights)
So tonight I didn't get quite as far as I have before. I realised that this project was going to use twice the amount of clay that the seal did, and as I'm eating through my clay reserves I decided to re-purpose a bit of clay that I've already used. It was from the first doll body I started with a foil armature. I hadn't liked the foil armature and wanted to use a carved styrofoam one instead (which I did like better), so I never finished that one. Well, there was a fair amount of clay there, so I pulled it off the armature and worked with it a bit and it was totally fine! You have to love polymer clay. That clay had been worked with for a while, then left wrapped in wax paper (not air tight, just wrapped in the paper to keep it from making a mess) in a box for a couple of years. Possibly three years. I'm not sure I want to dwell on how long ago that was, aaah! Anyway, once I pulled it off it was good as new. lol

Anyway, I did that, then prepared the clay and baked some eyes. I finished the head armature but I'm having a bit of a problem with the body armature. Since it was getting late I decided to call it a night. Tomorrow I'll finish the armature and start sculpting!

Also I got an awesome anatomy reference book in the mail! We ordered it quite a while ago now, but it was shipped in the cheapest way possible... and the tracking showed that it kept being bumped for higher priority items for ages in Washington. e_e We didn't mind terribly as we had a library copy, but it was still kind of lame. :P

Also, I need more icons. lol
