Sculpting challenge: Day eleven!
Dec. 7th, 2011 11:11 amOk, so I'm writing this post up a little late as it is the next morning, but I did sculpt yesterday! lol I'm trying to get myself to go to sleep on a more regular schedule and I didn't have enough time to post last night by the time I wanted to go to bed.
So the seal is taking a bit longer to finish than the others, and part of that is because of the clay mix. The fimo soft addition seems to make it take longer to blend, which is alright really. It's just slower for progress, but I'm nearly finished.
Last night I sculpted a bit on the face to make it sleeker. It's supposed to be a harp seal and while it does look like one it's a bit stocky for my taste. I didn't want to push the head too much out of shape though (again with the poor clay mix!), so I'm mostly leaving it as it is. I think I'll do another one after the challenge so I have a more "perfect" seal, but this on is still cute. :3
I then attached the head to the body and sculpted the neck. I also shaped the tail end and sculpted some details to the sides. Once I'd done that I had to put the seal back in the fridge because the entire thing was pretty warm.
Today I'm going to sculpt and add the flippers! Then I think all that's left is sculpting on the fur and baking. Hopefully this clay mix bakes alright!
