Today me and Scottie cut out of work a little early and went to Teton Horseback Adventures. It is just outside of the national park but in the national forest, so they aren't as restricted as other horseback riding places around here. Apparently the horses in the national park have to be muzzled and stuff like that.

We called early this morning I called them to reserve a spot for us. Because we are Signal employees we get a discount so it would cost us $15 per person. Because it was our first time riding with them we actually got to ride free (+ a tip to the guide) for an hour. There are also 2 hour rides that take you up a mountain, which I'm sure will be awesome too. But for the hour ride we were riding thru beautiful country, thru streams, near mountains. Just lovely.
When we showed up we saw that they had a fair number of horses fenced outside, and near a bale of hay there was one young one outside. There were dogs running around, they looked like Australian shepards but smaller than I thought they would be. There was one dog that was the mother, and there were pups who were supposed to be 4-5 months. So cute. They ran with us for the whole ride, and they seemed very happy. Apparently they help scare off any bears in the area, which is prolly a good idea.

The guide was a young woman and she was riding a bay roan, Scottie got a large pinto named Sadie, and I got a fleabitten grey. I didn't catch my horse's name though, so for a lack of name I nicknamed her Freckles. (I can be as silly as I want, considering I wasn't really naming her for good! lol) Scottie's horse was very headstrong and wanted to be in the lead. Sadie spent most of her time being quite close to the guide. My horse at first wasn't interested in eating, but later on was constantly trying to munch. It didn't bother me, though I did get her to move along. She wasn't all that worried about taking the lead, she was happy to just putz along behind, which was fine with me, because I was happy to just putz along behind and relax. I stayed close enough that I could hear and take part in conversation, but my horse wasn't smelling Sadie's butt, as Scottie said of Sadie and the guide's horse. lol
What my horse liked to do was take a second, grab some clover, then trot for a little bit to catch up.

I really enjoyed myself and Scottie seemed to have had a good time too. We'll definitely have to go again! Scottie had been talking about making it a weekly thing, and I think that would be awesome!

After we were done riding we went to Jackson. We did a little shopping and then we went to see Hairspray. That was a fun movie! John Travolta as the girls overweight mother was rather funny. The whole cast was quite good for it! Anyway, it was a lot of fun!

Now hopefully Harry Potter is in the mail for us tomorrow!

(side note- I have no horse icons??! I'll have to fix that!)
