So as I write this, I feel a bit like I did at Pilot. It's been stormy today, with some rain and REALLY high winds. I'd had issues getting into the door after work! Anyway, as I was nearing finishing my sculpting for the night the power went out. It had been flickering for the last hour or so before that, and it's been out for about an hour so far. The wind was so loud that while I had been sculpting I kept asking Scottie to turn up the tv because I couldn't hear it over the wind! I'm using my sculpting time to catch up on some shows since if I'm not actively doing something I rarely can sit still long enough to do passive entertainment. Tonight I watched an episode of Face Off (one of the few reality shows I like, weee art!) and an episode of Warehouse 13. I <3 that show. :D
ANYWAY. Sculpting for tonight! I started on the frog. I made the frog body armature, sculpted the body and started working on the face. Scottie thought that the butt was the head at first. Right now it looks so silly! It sort of reminds me of a green horse head. It has a big mouth and so far it doesn't have eyes or any other face characteristics, and I haven't added the legs or anything. The hips look like somewhere that you'd think eyes would be. lol
It's interesting working with this Premo clay, since I've basically been working with Super Sculpey pretty much exclusively. The only one that I didn't was with the seal, and that was a Fimo/Super Sculpey blend (for the white color). It seems stiffer, and I think that it might do well for this sculpt especially. It needs to be really smooth, and this stuff seems to sculpt more smoothly. I'll have to see how it takes finer detail. I'm not sure that either thing is better, they're just somewhat different and good in their own way.
Tomorrow I'll work some more on the frog! I need to make the legs and probably bake it some new sized eyes (I have a big jar of eyes at this point since I never bake just one pair, but so far I haven't used previous sized eyes more than once. lol) I wonder if I'll be able to finish the frog tomorrow! That might be a bit ambitious. It would probably be best if I at least waited to bake it until the next day at least since last night's sculpting extravaganza cut into my sleep time.
Now I'll just wait to post this up until tomorrow morning I'd assume, since the power isn't back on yet.

So the next morning as you know, the power did not come back on. Though I didn't have to go to work (though I really wouldn't have minded going in to work, especially if that meant that we didn't have the stress of the power being off for the past couple of days). But since I had the time I sculpted during the day while I had light.
I worked a bit more on the face, then I sculpted on the eyes. Luckily I did have pre-baked eyes of the proper size otherwise I wouldn't have been able to do that. While I was doing this, Scottie read me poetry. It was really sweet! :3
After I got the face mostly done, I started on the feet. I thought this would be a smaller endeavor. I needed to make little armatures for the toes, so I twisted up 4' of beading wire (so much wire!), then cut that into sections and coated them in glue. Then I made little strips of clay to put on the toe armatures. That seemed like it would be a much faster activity than it turned into, of course I was also going crazy with that squealing in the hall from the fire monitor thing. I finished up the toes except for a couple and then we decided to go to the library before it closed. When we came home there wasn't enough light to continue sculpting.
Today I finished the last couple of toes and baked them. They need to be baked before I can add them to the feet. I also made a wart stamp out of some other clay for later. While those were baking I sculpted the upper back legs and added them to the body. Once the toes were finished baking I sculpted the foot and added the toes to them. This is also something that takes more time than you'd think. I have the arm armatures ready, the front legs modeled and front feet finished, and the back feet started.
Tomorrow I need to sculpt the front legs together, sculpt the lower back legs and attach them, and finish the back feet. Then I need to texture the frog with the wart stamp and finish a little bit of face sculpting (mostly just the nostrils). Then of course the baking. If something doesn't come up I think I should be able to finish the frog tomorrow!
I haven't gotten to fixing the fox foot yet, but it looks like a clean break like it was with the fawn so I'll probably fix that up tomorrow.
My next sculpt is a fledgling bluebird. :3
In other news, the power came on today a little after 6 pm! I was getting worried that they weren't going to get to it again, and the thought of listening to that squealing fire alarm thing kind of made me go nuts. xP But everything is fine now! It looks like the food in the fridge weathered ok, at least in the freezer and that's where the more expensive food would be to replace. If the power didn't come back on tonight I was seriously considering getting a cooler and some ice!
I'm not sure how much damage there might be around still, but it seems like the worst of the damage has been cleaned up now. Most people in my office had power by today, which is good.
