So today I started the first actual sculpting project in the book, a field mouse. It's going really well I think! I currently have a head and partial body chilling in the fridge. Since the clay is heat sensitive, I think the cooler it is when I start in the morning the better. I've been chilling it off and on during the sculpting process just to make sure I didn't have it too malleable.

I sculpted the head partially once, but the first time I made the base the head was a little short and I didn't like how it looked. So I started over and was much happier with the result. :D

I also sculpted part of the body, but since it was getting late and even if I finished I'd still need to sculpt on all the hair so I decided it would be better if I waited until tomorrow morning to finish up. I'm really excited! It's a lot more exciting sculpting the figures than the tools, lol.

My wonderful hubby made some pineapple upside down cake from scratch tonight, and it was delicious! We were shopping in Costco the other day and somehow we ended up talking about pineapple upside down cake and I said I'd never had it before. We immediately snagged the ingredients so that he could correct that injustice! hehe He is the sweetest man! <3

Currently getting blasted out by a fire alarm test. Really glad that I wasn't sculpting when this started, because I totally would have crushed it. No sculpting until after five because they might set it off again. SO OBNOXIOUS!

Now it's off, thank god. I knew it was going to happen but I didn't realise it was going to go on for 15 minutes. It seemed longer! OMG. When it was off Scottie asked if his ears were bleeding.
