Oh haha weather
Aug. 21st, 2011 02:02 amWindy weather made my nightly commute across the river sort of ridiculous. It was really windy earlier, but it had calmed down a bit when I went across the river to do my sonar shift. It picked up off and on during the shift, and then it started blowing like mad right before I left. Haha world. Very funny.
Luckily I had parked my boat in such a way that it didn't get blown sideways across the bank, where it would get stuck (I've had this happen before many a time, that's an awful lot of DNW right there). So I was able to get the boat of easy, but then the waves were crazy! I went really slow since that was safer and resulted in less spray. I still got a lot of spray though! I'm glad I wore my raincoat. It's only like 50 degrees right now, which is balmy compared to how it has been, but I have a cold tent awaiting me, not a warm house so the last thing I wanted to do was get soaked.
Then once I was across the river, I went driving towards the little spotlight we have up on our generator shed (this is what I aim at to drive to camp, it's dark out here now at 1 am!), and tried to park. I was squinting at where I was going and then realised there was a boat where I wanted to park. I actually think that's kind of funny. It had gotten pushed up against the bank so it was harder to see. So I went off to the side a bit and parked.
Silly night.
