Gaaaaah this makes me so mad!
Mar. 23rd, 2010 01:24 pmHigh fructose corn syrup. It's a lipase, it WANTS to be a fat biochemically. Knowing how it works, I rarely touch the stuff. Us sciencey types try to get that out there, and people start to notice.
Then the CORN REFINERS ASSOCIATION comes out with an ad campaign basically saying: You don't really understand why HFCS is bad for you, do you? Why don't you just go back to ignorance, it's really your place anyway. Have some soda, it will make you feel better.
I can't imagine why they would say that, right? They couldn't possibly be biased.
Then a study comes out showing that rats with HFCS in their diet have higher rates of obesity than rats able to have sugar. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/03/100322121115.htm?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+sciencedaily+%28ScienceDaily%3A+Latest+Science+News
At the end of this article, there is this:
Editor's Note: In response to the above-mentioned study, The Corn Refiners Association issued a statement titled "Gross Errors in Princeton Animal Study on Obesity and High Fructose Corn Syrup: Research in Humans Discredits Princeton Study"
It just makes me so mad. If it makes you as mad as it made me, you might appreciate watching this pretty video made in blender to calm you down. xP
