Pets in my building
Dec. 11th, 2009 08:49 amSo I live in an apartment complex were pets aren't allowed. Apparently. We have a parakeet, that's ok. Ippo even has a parakeet buddy that I hear chirping from a different apartment.
But Scottie has seen apartment size puppies living in the building... and I know one of our upstairs neighbors has a cat. Sometimes I hear it meowing at the door when I'm in the stairwell.
On the one hand, I would LOVE a kitty or small dog (any dog really, but we do live in an apartment). I'm not sure though if people are sneaking in animals against their contract, or if the woman who signed us up was wrong about pets not being allowed. She's a property wide manager for a renting company who owns half of the rentals in Anchorage (literally), she wasn't actually a building manager -here-. She was here for part of the summer to oversee some maintenance, then she moves on to another property to do the same thing.
She gave us the wrong information about our bills, including how we were billed. Like the fact that electricity doesn't come to us with the rent bill like the water, we have to get our own account set up with the electric company. That was a surprise when we got the notice to "Pay this bill in 24 hours or we'll charge you late fees per day, and btw set up your account with the electric company like we totally told you to do".
So I can see her not knowing what the hell she was talking about in any other respect. The rental contract doesn't say pets aren't allowed, but it doesn't say that they are either. I'd ask but I'd feel bad if that meant other people would lose their pets, even if they shouldn't have them. :/
