milleniumgypsy: (Ed-exasperated)
Well, Scottie bought some new RAM for his mac powerbook. He used to have just 256 MB and since that isn't much he ordered 1 GB of RAM from Crucial.com. It had 2 slots so he put the new stick in the empty slot and left the other one alone. Now, it works fine... the computer runs really fast (now it keeps up with mine!) but while he was running VLC watching a movie the computer froze up. The picture stopped and the sound was skipping in that spot. He had to shut the computer down. He ran the video again and there isn't anything wrong with the movie. All seemed well again until we started to play Neverwinter Nights. Things were going alright for a few minutes, then the video froze and the sound began to skip again. He had to shut the computer down. We tried again and the same thing happened minus the sound skippage. We're not sure what is wrong or how to fix it. Is it the RAM or is there something that we are missing? He's currently running a memory test but I figured I'd post now to see if there was anyone that could give a hand.
