milleniumgypsy: (sleepy Ed by mikazuki)
It's funny how I used to be limited to only 3 pictures, and now that the free limit has been upped to 6 I still never seem to have enough room. Oh well. I switched out 2 of my icons for different ones. (FMA icons for new FMA icons. hehe)

Anyway, the icon that I'm using with this post is very relevant to me right now. :P

And it is spring break. *tries to look excited* Whee... I would be more excited if I didn't have 2 exams next week and another genetics exam next week. And I would be more excited if Scottie were here.

I need to walk the dog.

I am tired.

Ever have one of those days where you can't put what you feel into words?

Technically, I don't think I should be writing anything right now. I should just go to sleep or something. (But I need to walk the dog.)

birds

Well, my mom went out and bought new birds the day after mom found out my bird died. She bought red factor canaries, one male and one female. She's hoping that they will breed. Hopefully it works out better than the other couple of canaries we had last year. I know I posted about them a little, but I don't think I posted about them much. Mom sold them back to Richard a long time ago. That female was clueless about taking care of babies, she ended up letting her eggs (all batches, she laid more than once) get too cold because she kept ripping apart the nest and the eggs would fall to the side. The couple of eggs we tried to give to the finches (they will adopt eggs) didn't work either, they didn't feed the one baby that hatched enough and it died too. The male was also an american singer, and that bird was loud. And after we'd had him for a while he started to forget what his song was supposed to sound like and started trying to mix finch songs with his song. Not a pretty combination. The pretty (but too loud) canary song turned into just this ear piercing noise. If I tried to play music he would just sing louder to be heard over my music. Since the bird's singing was bothering everyone and the female was hopeless to breed mom just sold them back and we stuck with the finches and my bird.

You know, so many birds have come thru my house. Parakeets, spice finches, society finches, canaries, cockatiels, etc and the only bird that stayed with us for it's entire life (since we moved to this house) was my bird. And he was here thru all those other birds and he is one of the only songbirds that we had that wasn't influenced by any other bird's song. He had his song (which was very pretty) and he never changed it. My bird was an orange cheeked waxbill btw.

Anyway, now we have the 2 canaries. They are red factor canaries, so they could have red offspring. Neither of them are yellow, they are a mix of red, orange, yellow, browns and black. They sort of remind me of calicos. hehe The male of the pair has a pretty song, and it's not ear piercing like the other male's song. So that's good. Niether of the 2 canaries are mine, mom said that she needed to get some birds for the house because my bird had been the only bird left in the house. She missed having birds.

Oh, and though I replied to everyone on my post relating to my bird, I just wanted to mention anyway what I decided to do with him. He is in my freezer waiting for spring to be buried.
