Well, I bought my books today. I just got my first paycheck from IGA a few days ago and cashed it. Yes, it took them forever to get me my first paycheck. They pay every Friday, but the first week they didn't get me in. Then the phone lines went down they didn't get me in their system in time for the next paycheck... So I got almost 3 weeks on one paycheck. Yet, for all the time I worked I only got a whooping $249.04. Whoo... And they wonder why I quit... anyway...
So I went to the College Bookshelf and got my books. I already had my biochem book so I didn't have to buy that today. I figured that I should be ok if I put my $100 that I made from selling my crap in our rummage sales in with that paycheck. I found my sculpture class had a required book that was about $50 (bleh, I was counting on not needing anything but materials... maybe it won't really be needed and I'll be able to return it... I can hope...)
My Organic Chemistry book cost $120 used. I'm glad I was able to get a used copy. A new one would be $180. I had to buy another book for it too though, and that was about $60. Then my Zoology book cost a little over $80. It totalled to ~$323.00.
Great. I still needed to buy my lab manuals from the College Bookstore (they usually always cost a little bit more because they are right on campus and are therefore more convient if you live on campus and/or are lazy.) But for some reason it didn't seem that the Bookshelf had lab manuals. I'm accustomed to them not having the ones that Tech prints, but these seem to be ones that they should have... the guy that got the books for me though (you give the class list and they get the books you'll need) was obviously new. Looked like his first day. He didn't even know how to use the register... anyway, maybe he just didn't know to get the lab manuals too. I dunno. x.X
But I need to get 3 more things. My Zoology lab manual is going to run me around $30 I think. My organic chem lab needs a $16 glorified notebook to enter my data and a book that will cost close to $40.
I have a little over $20 left. And I'm sure I need to buy materials for sculpture, I have no idea what that will run me. But I won't know that until after I've been to class, so I'm not going to worry about that right now.
I have a little bit of scholarship left over, about $149. I can use that on books, whatever I don't spend will be sent to me. I can buy the manuals with that, but I couldn't buy them today because I can't use the scholarship money until this Monday. *headdesk**headdesk**headdesk*
I still have a small paycheck coming from IGA and the hours I'm working at Subway. I'm still planning on how I'm going to pay for spring semester books. Grar.
See, this is why I couldn't go to Isle Royale... Bloody money...
I did splurge (holy cow!) when I was in the Bookstore. They had $1.50 used paperbacks. I saw two books by Patricia Cornwell, and had to buy them. And then I saw an X-Files novel, and had to get that too. I'm bad.
I went into the Backroom today too, because there was something that I wanted to buy. They didn't have what I wanted though. Can't say what it is, cause then I'd spoil the surprise. But suffice to say, they didn't have what I wanted. Well, technically they did, but not enough of it to justify the price. I'll have to buy it off the net. Unfortunetely that doesn't fit into the time I want it, but what can I do? :P
I did buy a little elephant sculpture for $1.50 though. It was so cute! I should take a picture of it and post it.
Then afterwards me and the family went down to my gramma's. Grampa fixed our station wagon with the part we bought today, the wagon for the past week has been dead. We've been borrowing their truck, which has been interesting...
I swam with my siblings for a few hours, which was nice. The water was warmer than it was last night anyway...
