Well

I quit IGA. I have a new job at Subway. My time at IGA was brief, but filled with so many meaningful memories... ha, or not.

Subway is alright. I don't have to listen to that asinine music that IGA plays all day long. Horrid stuff. It may make me crazy, but the incessant noise was one of the reasons I hated IGA. It gave everything a horrid atmosphere. Everyone hated that music. I'd rather have listened to just about anything else. Elevator music would have been welcome. Silence would have been preferable. I hated their music, but because I would listen to it for hours on end I'd even hear it in my head when I was gone. Bah.
Subway has a radio station that I like playing. And when it's busy, I can't hear it. Music I like or nothing at all. I like that much better.

I'm less bored at Subway. I know that I will eventually get bored, but atm, this is new.

One thing that sucks? Subway's air conditioning doesn't work. Not that I can't stand heat. I've never had air conditioning at home, and when I worked in Holiday their air conditioning didn't work either. I vividly remember the large chocolates near my register melting in their wrappers. Yeah, I'm sure the heat was good on all the food in the store... anyway...
Today was kind of miserable for not working in air conditioning because it was 98 degrees F today. (for the conversion phobic, I believe that is ~37 degrees C and 309.8 Kelvin. heh) Oh, and it's also very humid. Add to the fact that the work-shirts aren't very cool material, I have a hat and am wearing pants, shoes and socks. lol
I'm allowed to wear shorts, but only if they reach my knees. I need to buy shorts that reach my knees... lol

It's supposed to cool down though, so heat shouldn't be too much of a problem. Usually heat doesn't bother me overly much. But when you're running around in near 100 degree heat plus humidity, it's not very fun. :P

I like the hours I'm getting at Subway. I can have a life while working there! Working at IGA gave me such bullshit hours that I would wake up, putz around the house for a little bit, go to work, come home, walk the dog at like 1 am, go on the net for a little bit, then go to sleep. Rinse and repeat. It was driving me nuts.

Another good thing about Subway. It has windows. IGA used to have windows, but now they are replaced with a brick wall. Unless I looked at the clock, I never knew what time it was and I had no idea what the weather was outside. I hated spending my summer in a dark box. It may not be as cool in Subway as IGA, but at least I can see the sun. I prefer that.

I don't have to take unpaid lunch breaks either! This is better. I'd rather get my shift over with as fast as possible instead of sitting around waiting in the store. I could never go home during it, even if I had a car it would be a waste of time and gas to drive home because basically as soon as I got home I'd have a little bit of time before I had to turn around and go back.

In other news, I need to finish making my new layout. I have the coding. I have the inspiration... for what type of layout I want. Problem though... I don't have the inspiration for what I want on my layout. I made a graphic, actually I have made two... yet I'm not really happy with either. I am uninspired... or possibly I'm too inspired? I can't focus on a single thing I want for it. And nothing that I come up with seems right.
I think the problem is I don't really feel... er, strongly for a single thing. I'm not obsessively interested in any movie or book or anything... and random images I find and like I don't like enough to want for my journal.

Bleh.

There was a thunderstorm tonight. While I was walking it was flashing like mad and I saw lightning strike not very far away. Er, I took a shorter walk than usual. Halfway thru the shortened version of my walk it started to pour. I decided that rain contributing to my conductivity wasn't the best thing in the world, and that running instead of walking sounded like a good idea. :P

That was about an hour ago, and the storm has now passed. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm already in my pjs I think I'd go out and take another walk to make up for the shortened walk of tonight... but I should just look at it as I'm supposed to take a shorter walk every now and then right? I'm supposed to take days off according to mom, but I never do. I think shortened walks every now and then should suffice.

I also finished Angels and Demons tonight. I could have finished it faster if I had more free time, but eh. Three days isn't horrid timing. :P
