Fun times... I just got in from my geology lab. We were doing this thing with satellite images and the landsat program, which doesn't sound that bad except for the fact that we were in this one computer lab in the EERC, and they have these horrid sun system computers... they are the slowest computers on the face of the earth, I swear. And the sad thing is they're actually fairly new! I have no idea who decided they were so great, but eh. They also run Unix, which is ok, though it's not my favorite thing to work with. I'm pretty flexable when it comes to computers, I just have preferances. Anyway, my lab partner (Tony, he's the guy that I ended up partnering with the first day remember? He was checking me out when I walked in? Well, we get to keep our partners it seems, so he's my partner for the rest of the year.) was looking at the puter and was like 'These computers are terrible! It's sad cause we're in the EERC, and have the worst computers on campus! Come on computer nerds, make them better!' I laughed, but I was thinking that with the new computer building (the CILIT) the computer nerds prolly have better things to do. haha (I can poke fun at computer nerds all I want, considering I am one. ;P) I didn't say that though.

Anyway, after I got done with the lab, I came to my bio computer lab. I prefer the computers here. They used to be fairly crappy too... and they used Unix, though I can work that. I'm fairly flexible when it comes to computers, but I just have preferances. These run on Windows now though. I don't really care either way, I'm just happy that they have computers that like to work.

Anyway, the main reason I came in here was to start my lab write-up for next week.

Oh! Guess what I did for my fish bio lab? I dissected a shark! o.O It's common name is dogfish. *nods* I haven't dissected anything serious since I was in anatomy and phys. in high school! (not counting when I dissected that smelt the first week of fish lab. I don't consider it a serious one. *nods*) The last thing I dissected was a cat, and uck. Well, technically, I didn't really do much with the dissection itself, since I was in a group of 3 or 4, and the others wanted to dissect. Me, I wanted absolutely -nothing- to do with it. The cat looked like my cat Oreo for one thing, exactly! Only ours was male. So I kind of hung out at the edge and tried not to die from the smell. I did have to do a practical on the cat, but I memorised where everything was from pictures, and when I went to do the practical I found everything just fine.
It was bad enough from the last thing I did (a fetal pig) that everytime I even thought of eating meat I could smell formeldahyde, and would see that pig! Poor thing... Anyway...

Today however, dissecting that shark was no problem. I was actually interested, and wanted to see what was inside that sucker! Not to sound gross, but I don't have anything against dissecting fish. Which is good, because with a future in marine biology, it would be kind of bad for me to not want to cut into a fish for some reason. I was kinda bummed though once I got a look at the shark I got 'served'. They had some semi-fresh ones, and some older ones... I ended up with a smaller older one. It was kind of stuck in a curved position because of this, and because of this it was kind of hard to cut open and poke around inside of it. Oh, mine was a girl. So I should refer to it as a she. lol She didn't have any eggs, but the guy next to me had a fresher one, and man, that one had the eggs! At first I thought I might have even gotten a male (I was messy, and I didn't really want to flip the pages for my lab report more than I had to) because I got tripped up by the renal gland (I saw it on the male anatomy sheet) and I couldn't find the ovaducts, but then I found the ovaries so it was a girl. Plus it didn't have the clasper fins.

Anyway, that was a messy lab. I had to buy a lab coat (damnit! More money that I had to spend that I don't have!), it was 7.99 in the bookstore, and I bought it this morning. I was lucky, because I had just enough money to buy it. I now have what, a quarter in my backpack? Damn.

I'm supposed to go to Carrie's in a couple weeks (I'll talk about this in more detail later I'm sure) and I'm not going to have any money! I do have a little bit of money stashed in my room for a rainy day (I'm glad I have it), but that's only around $20, and I didn't want to have to spend it. But there are all these plans, and I'm going to be there for at least a couple days and we're going to eat out, go out, do this and that... and it takes money you know? I'm looking forward to it because I haven't been to Carrie's new place yet, and I haven't been at the Soo (Sault Ste. Marie) since I switched out of LSSU to come back to MTU. I told mom that I was going, and she was like ok. She told gramma and gramma said that I wanted to sow my wild oats. haha gramma. (Edit: this has nothing to do with what you might think it means, it just means that you need to go out and indulge your wild streak. No, it has nothing to do with sex! Sicko. Gramma has a tamer definition of 'sowing wild oats' than other ppl I know have. :P However, I've always thought of that saying in the terms of her definition of it. Considering what others think of the saying... I prolly really shouldn't. x.x) However I'm fairly certian she was mostly kidding, but this is kind of true actually... I haven't done anything 'crazy' since last summer, and I didn't misbehave on my bday or new years eve. Not that I'm some crazy wild woman, but even Scottie said that recent events could justify me needing to let off steam.

Anyway, I should actually start writing that paper. Before I forget what all those satellite images look like lol. :P
