today was good
Jul. 15th, 2004 02:00 amI woke up to a nice sunny day today! It got to a high of about 75 degrees Farenhiet in town even! (this needs to be said because if you go by the lake, it's like 10 degrees cooler.) I only slept for 6 hours, but for some reason I couldn't sleep in anyway. I think it was because the sun was shining, and the weather's been so gloomy lately!
I went shopping with the family early, I got an awesome pair of black boots super cheap too. They're like calf high black pleather things with a *really* high heel. Well, for me anyway. I don't wear high heels. o.O But for some reason these weren't uncomfortable. I think it was because they didn't have that evil evil pointy toe, and the heels weren't those pointy heels, but more of a boxy thing. I thought for one they looked good, they were on sale, and if nothing else, they would be perfect for halloween. I have every intention of dressing up as Dark Willow for halloween. xD
I also had to buy them, because usually any boot that looks remotely 'sexy' is like 5 sizes to big for me. I have really small feet... and usually buy my shoes from the kids aisle. Which usually is fun, as long as I'm not looking for something dressy...
Then of course, after I found these lovely boots I went and geeked out, buying a Spider-Man switch plate for my room. xD I'm a geek and proud!
After this I went to subway and got a chicken teriki (sp?) sub. It was nummy. xD
Then me and the family went to the beach. It was really nice, but the water is *still* cold! Arrrrrg! I went in up to my feet, and it *hurt* my feet. Bah. But I still tried my best to get used to it and swim... I would walk in up to my knees and then my feet would start to hurt and I would come back on the beach and mull around, then walk back in and do the same. Repeat this 50 times. Now I'm not being a baby here. My legs were going numb in this time. When the water is this cold, the only way to get used to it is go numb. I seriously couldn't feel the sand under my feet after a while. o.O But I'm bull-headed, and kept trying. I put my hands in the water, and it hurt. Mom was like, 'oh, just give up, that water's not swimable...' I was ready to say 'yeah...' but then she was like 'oh, your getting old, you would have jumped in that no problem at 15!' Which isn't entirely true, usually when the water was that cold I would be getting used to it while she was warming the sauna (usually the water is this cold in like *may*, so we just test the water on visits to my gramma's camp)
So I had to prove a point and I jumped in. I swam for prolly a grand total of 3 minutes, but I swam damnit. But the thing is, swimming in water that cold isn't good for me, I know it. When being in it makes me go numb, I can't move my fingers because I don't have the circulation, my legs are rubbery and hard to move and are friggin beet red from cold, that's not really water you get used to. That's water that if you stay in too long will give you hypothermia.
(oh, a note, I've tried swimming twice before this recently. I didn't write about it because of my wrists. One time with this almost exact same outcome, and another where I actually swam for about an hour. I'm stubborn I guess, though on the hour swim one the water wasn't so painfully cold.)
But besides the evil cold water, we had a nice fire and toasted marshmallows. And fought mosquitoes. Have I mentioned I want to move? Yes? A million times? I thought so. heh
I'd write more, but I don't want to screw up my wrists (ha! I prolly already have with this monster entry) and I've prolly bored you to death.
I'm praying this won't hurt my wrists.
