Monster High photoshoot! Also, Hiddles on Top Gear! And Olympics ice dancing! And DA randomness!

Still not feeling well, so here are some previously unposted photos I took of Jinafire and Heath. I thought that I might post them around now because of the romantic holiday times. n_n

How lovely

Awww...

I was super excited today because Top Gear was finally showing the new episode that had Hiddles as the Star in the Reasonably Priced Car!
Forever driving in puddles
It aired last week across the pond, but didn't show here until this week. I know that I could have found it online somewhere, but I decided to wait and watch it on tv all official like. xD
The interview was amazing too! I loved how they were talking about the Jaguar #GoodToBeBad ad campaign that he's a part of, and how he was acting all cool and collected for the shoot while up in the helicopter:

Considering how bad I felt today, which was at least a bit better than yesterday, I was especially excited to have that to watch today! Luckily too I had the day off today because it's a holiday (President's Day).
I'm going to stay home from work tomorrow too, since while I usually am ok with just pushing through work no matter how crappy I feel, these last couple of days are not those kind of days.

I was really excited to watch the final bit of Olympics ice dancing, cuddled up with Scottie. I thought Meryl Davis and Charlie White had a really nice performance, and I have to say that I was in love with her outfit. So sparkly! Also, while I loved their performance, I had to laugh whenever her skirt would go fluttering in front of his face in lifts. What's visability? Not that it was necessary, and not that it was blocking his view for long, but it amused me anyway. xD
I also loved Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir! Their performance was really nice.
Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani's performance was a lot of fun! I wasn't sold on it when it started, because of the song choice. But then it went from the first Michael Jackson song to Man in the Mirror, which will now forever make me smile because I've heard Hiddles sing it, and shoot there is a gif of it on my journal RIGHT NOW in an entry with him singing it (Priorities I haz dem)... And then they went to Thriller and I love that song, and so I got more into it as it went. Also really liked the costume change he did mid performance. Not as good of a performance as others but I thought it was a lot of fun.
When Elena Ilinykh and Nikita Katsalap came on I was like IS SHE THE BLACK SWAN and she was. Scottie said that they did really good, but it seemed like they needed more practice to get their great individual things to flow together, and that if they were early in their career that they'd end up being more of a threat later. And then they said that she was only 19, and he was 22, and that we'd be sure to see more of them, so he totes called that.

Also, I was just on DeviantArt. I went and poked around and noticed that people have been commenting on my stuff, and putting my stuff in faves and I had absolutely no idea. xD I've been a member of DA for more than 10 years, but for the most part I never uploaded anything until recently. I have a whole crapload of things in the notices thing that I've been meaning to clear out that have built up over those 10 years, though for some reason it didn't occur to me that was where I needed to be looking at for activity on my stuff. I felt like I was in a bubble and that nobody saw anything I put there. Not true, I was just unintentially ignoring people! Erm, oops.

No lie, because I am almost totally ignorant of ice dancing technique, the Shibutanis were my favorite performance. I must have watched his costume change three times, because I was like, "Was that red before? Back it up!"

I also loved the Black Swan thing. She even fluttered her arms!

The only thing that made me sad about Meryl and Charlie is that they changed their costumes slightly from what they wore in the team competition. Meryl lost her Princess Jasmine inspired outfit. :(

I thought their performance was super fun! xD I didn't notice the costume change when I was first watching because I'd looked away at the wrong moment, but yay for being able to rewind tv! lol

I loved the arm fluttering too! <3

I love all the outfits, not gonna lie. n_n I'm going to be so sad when there isn't a bunch of awesome new figure skating on all the time. n_n'

I have so many ice dancing feels, I can't anymore~~

The Shibutanis are absolutely adorable. Every time I see the two of them I squeal and squeal. I hope we see them back in another Olympics soon. I didn't catch the costume change (or rather, I didn't catch precisely where it happened), but I did notice that his costume looked a little different at the end - more red sparkly bits. What did you think of Chock and Bates' Les Mis tribute?

My mom thought Meryl's dress was ugly, but I thought it was actually really pretty and fit with the Scheherezade theme (ie, something Persian or Arabian - they do love it so). It wasn't as outrageous as what Pechelat/Bourzat were wearing. I thought she looked just like a bird and he looked like something out of, idk, the French version of Seussical, maybe. Tessa and Scott were lovely too (as always, though).

I have so many ice dancing feels too! I love it so much! *flails*

They are totes adorable! :D I hope we see them together again at the Olympics too! The costume change happened right at the song transition from Man in the Mirror to Thriller- which was appropriate. :D
I loved Chock and Bates' Les Mis tribute too! I actually had meant to include that in my entry, but I had a lot of things that I was trying to say and I guess that didn't make it in on accident!

Aw, I thought it was really pretty too! It fit well with the theme. :3
lol, me and Scottie were kinda confused by Pechelat/Bourzat's outfit choice too. It was... interesting? Everything is just so pretty though. xD

Yes. I thought their (the Shibutanis') difficulty level may have been too low for the Olympics, but they're really young yet (Maia is 19, no?)

There seem to be a lot of Les Mis tributes this year. I don't think anyone's skated to Ravel's Bolero yet, which I fully expect at some point. Supposedly it was at one point considered bad skating music (and I can hear why), but now someone always tries to be edgy and skate to it anyway.

The outfits this year don't seem to be anywhere as tacky as they were in Vancouver, fortunately. For the Free Dance in Vancouver, they had to pick a culture/country and pay tribute somehow, and you can imagine (or no doubt saw) some of the tacky and offensive shit that came out of that.

Did you see any of the Ladies' Short Program?

[identity profile] invsagoth.livejournal.com 2014-02-21 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup, she's only 19 and he's 22! So they still have time. :3

I remarked on all the Les Mis tributes too to Scottie, and it made a lot of sense to us! It's been around forever, but the recent movie was I'm sure fresh in people's minds when they were planning out upcoming programs. xD

lol oh myyy those outfits from Vancouver, some of those were really bad! It's even sillier to me when I think back on it now that I've read and become a fan of The Hunger Games. Now I think of the tributes annoyed/dismayed reactions to their district's costumes for the opening ceremonies. It's different I know but the idea is similar!

I haven't seen the Ladies' Short Program yet, but I'm going to watch it on the DVR! :3

Did you see the French pair dancing to a song by John Barrowman?

NOW he's famous! Played at the Olympics!

[identity profile] invsagoth.livejournal.com 2014-02-20 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
I did see that, that was awesome! Yay! xD

I'm so sad because I can't really watch the Olympics here in Argentina :( I've been trying to follow the TV channels but when they say it's airing, it's really not T_T. I actually cried the other day when I couldn't watch, because Olympics are basically one of my favorite things in the universe.

I wish that was my case with dA! I am just not consistent with uploading stuffs >.>; I kind of need to produce more!

[identity profile] invsagoth.livejournal.com 2014-02-20 09:07 am (UTC)(link)
Awww, I'm sad you can't see it! :( I'd be so sad if I couldn't watch, especially the figure skating!
Is there a way you could watch online maybe?

I'm not consistent with uploading to dA either, but I guess I upload enough? n_n Obviously I put a lot on flickr, I wish that the photo program I use also gave the option to upload to dA like it does to flickr! I'd probably be less lazy then, lol. xD

I've tried but I haven't found anything live and constant :( it was airing this morning at 1pm but... I was sleeping T_T.

I think I should draw and design more x.x

Your photos have such personality .. I always do a quick double take wondering if those dolls are alive

[identity profile] invsagoth.livejournal.com 2014-03-01 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much! :D I'm really glad to hear that I'm able to give the dolls good personality in the pictures, that's important to me! :3
