Sculpting challenge: Day 63! Start of phase 2, painting! Also, a new addition to the family!
So tonight I started the painting phase of my sculpting challenge. I'm starting by painting the first sculpt in the challenge, the deer mouse. First I got my palette ready, that took a bit to get going so all I ended up doing was putting on the first colour wash on the mouse and painting over the white zombie eyes. xD
This is the first picture I've posted of this guy on here! I'm really excited by the colour on the mouse, it really makes it look so much nicer and it's just a base colour wash. lol
( The mouse sculpt paint so far! )
We also adopted the most beautiful cat yesterday! He's so sweet and friendly, we just had to take him home. We'd walked to Animal Control just to check out the cats again, and when Scottie went into one of the cat rooms this cat started meowing for him from the end of the room. He went to look at him and just fell in love. Then I came in and he worked his charm on me too. lol We've been wanting a cat but we hadn't thought that we were going to bring home a cat yesterday!
He's a 6 month old Maine Coon with lovely tabby colouring. He looks like rocky road ice cream or something. He's just so gorgeous and his fur is sooooo sooooft. He seems to love us already, and that's awesome because he's totally stolen my heart. I'm going to post pictures of him soon! We've decided to name him Talaraa.
The ferrets are hilarious around him. We kept them separated at first by the ferret's cage, and then introduced them with strict supervision. First the cat was sort of freaked out and confused by the ferrets, because they were not scared in the least of him. After he'd watched them for a little bit, he decided to go and attempt to make friends. It seems like he's decided that they are strange looking cats. haha
And in that vein, he's also decided to take cues from the ferrets on what he should do. His litterbox and litter aren't the same as he's used to, and even though I showed it to him at first he hadn't used the box for quite a while after we'd gotten him home. We were getting concerned until one of the ferrets went into the cage to use his litterbox. Talaraa was interested in what was going on so he followed Chaos into the cage. After Chaos left the cage... Talaraa started digging around in the tiny little ferret corner box. When he went to attempt to shove his body into the box I pulled him out and showed him his box again. Since we use the same litter for both of them (recycled paper pellets) he then understood that's where the litterbox was. I was laughing so much to see him trying to fit himself into the ferret box. I mean, Maine coon cats are huge so it's even more ridiculous! haha It was also quite a relief to know that he was just confused by the litter and nothing was actually wrong.
