Finally watched The Dark Knight Rises!

So I am continuing on in my watching of all the movies that I was previously too much of a bag of cats to watch even though I wanted to watch them. Not that I'm no longer a bag of cats, but I am slowly returning to my normal bag of cats state. THIS IS A GOOD THING YOU GUYS YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW
Hiddles weeeeeeeeeeee

Anyway, we rented The Dark Knight Rises finally! We watched that today. I had a mixed bag of feels.

The Dark Knight is one of my most favorite movies. It was really amazing, and it would be difficult to top, especially when they couldn't use the Joker after Heath's passing. I also really loved Batman Begins (and not just because I <3 Cillian Murphy), me and Scottie both loved that movie and weren't sure that they could top it though they totally did.
Joker madness
Heath Ledger was amazing as the Joker and I think that just elevated the movie so much. Trying to follow up all of that amazingness was probably difficult, but we were hoping that it would at least reach the quality of the first movie. We didn't think it did.

The movie had some... issues.

We felt that they tried to do too much in the time. They were introducing a lot of new characters to the story (Catwoman, Robin, Bane, and plot twist woman) without really fleshing most of them out.

I mean, we all know who Selena is but within this movieverse we literally learn nothing about her. I don't even know what the point of her roommate friend is here. I loved Anne Hathaway's portrayl though, and the lack of story certainly wasn't her fault!
Bane gets his origin story put in, which is fine, but it's left hanging in "not quite fleshed out enough" land. Plus the whole Pit thing in general just... didn't make sense. Why exactly did Bruce have to do the leap of faith thing to get out? He couldn't figure out a better way to climb out with all of his experience and training? He couldn't possibly figure out a tool? NOBODY EVER THOUGHT TO TRY AND FIGURE OUT A TOOL?
We both figured early on that plot twist woman was going to be bad, but they didn't really give any real clues as to why. When we learned why she was doing what she was doing... it didn't really make any sense. "I hated my father until you murdered him NOW I LOVE HIM AND YOU SUCK AND I'M GOING TO KILL YOU ALL FOR REASONS."

I was rather thrown to find when the movie started that EIGHT YEARS had passed. And in this time the seeds of good that Harvey had planted had blossomed SO SUCCESSFULLY that there was this enormous period of peace in which Bruce could go become a hermit. And become painfully crippled somehow, and even though he was filthy rich didn't go to the doctors or anything for it. I mean, I guess I could say he was just angsting really hard but Alfred loves him and probably would have done SOMETHING in all that time.

I REALLY WANTED TO GIVE ALFRED A HUG. JUST. GAH. FEEEEELS.
boxes of feels

Early on I totally pegged Officer/Detective Blake as Robin. At one point during the movie I even called him Detective Robin. I was a bit unsure because I knew his name wasn't Dick Grayson (or any other Robin), but I was still excited when they confirmed at the end of the movie that his real name was Robin (which is rather amusing I gotta say).
They totally set him up for a Robin/Nightwing movie. I wonder if they're going to run with it? I haven't heard anything about it though. I'd like a Nightwing movie. n_n

I'm sure that the Scarecrow judging was totally supposed to be Joker, but since that was impossible I was SUPER EXCITED to see Dr. Crane again, if just for a little bit. I might have fangirl squeaked.

What is it with me and villians?

I did enjoy the movie though. It was entertaining enough despite the problems. I'm glad I rented it though because I doubt that I'd go out of my way to watch it again, though I'm happy to have seen it. I've watched the Dark Knight numerous times though and will watch it many more times I'm sure.

I went and found your Riddler costume, that's awesome! :D I love your taste in shoes too btw ehehehe. :D
I was excited about the Riddler challenges too! I'll totally try to get all of them when I play. xD It appeals to my OCD nature.

I'd play it on PS3. :D I couldn't really play it on the computer atm because the power supply actually died on our desktop and we haven't been able to replace that just yet, and I'm not sure that my laptop would handle it very well. That's really awesome of you to offer! *hugs*

I move in like 3 weeks, once I get out there you can totally borrow it. :)

I picked up a blind box DC figure today and I got Riddler and Joker. WIN
