Question on tablets

Ok, I have a question on tablets. I've never used one before but I've wanted one for a long time. Scottie is considering getting me one for Valentines day (he's so sweet). Due to recent developments I don't know if it is feasible anymore, but I figured I would at least ask for future reference. Does anyone have a suggestion for a particular brand? A particular size? Scottie was looking at a Wacom Graphire tablet, at 6x11 inches. I don't know if that is too small? Also is it alright to buy them used? If there is a better brand/price that would prolly be good to know. n.n Just wondering if anyone could give me some advice. n.n
